This site is a personal blog. It is operated by Wei Ming Tan, a private individual based in Singapore. The site collects the minimum amount of information required to make it work, and nothing more. This page explains what that means in practice.
My Daily Narrative is owned and operated by Wei Ming Tan (referred to below as "I" or "we"), an individual based in Singapore. This site is not a commercial enterprise. It does not sell products and does not, at the time of writing, run paid advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated.

We do not use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics. We do not run advertising trackers, pixel beacons, or fingerprinting scripts. We do not sell, share, or trade any personal information to third parties. We do not build advertising profiles. If you have installed browser tools that block third-party trackers, they will find nothing on this site to block.
This site does not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. The only cookies that may be set are strictly technical, if required by our web server or by future security features. If we ever add cookies for any other purpose, we will show a clear cookie notice and ask for your consent first.
If you write to us via the contact form or by email, we use your name and email address for one purpose only: to reply to your message. We do not add you to any newsletter, marketing list, or database. There is no newsletter.
Server access logs are retained for a short period (typically up to 30 days) for security and diagnostic purposes, and are then deleted or overwritten by the hosting provider's normal log rotation.
The site is hosted on servers operated by a commercial web hosting provider. Some of these servers may be located outside of Singapore. Where personal data (for example, contact-form emails) is transferred outside Singapore, we rely on commonly used contractual safeguards with our hosting and email providers.
Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), and under other applicable data protection laws that may apply to visitors from outside Singapore, you have the right to:

This site is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes we have received information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
Some of our essays contain outbound links to other websites, including news articles, book listings, and public records. Once you leave My Daily Narrative, your visit is governed by the privacy policy of the site you have moved to. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party sites, and we cannot control what they do.
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be summarised in a short note on the home page for at least fourteen days.
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any dispute relating to this policy or to the site will be dealt with in the courts of Singapore.
